Patricia Ann Jubera's Obituary
Patricia Ann Ballew Jubera passed away Thursday, May 7, 2020, at Abba Assisted Living, in Garland, Texas, at the age of 74. Pat was born May 13, 1945, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Burney Willis and Mary Etta (Harmon) Ballew. Her family moved north of Tulsa, to Turley, Oklahoma, in 1951. In Turley, Pat was raised in the countryside along with rabbits, chickens, cats, and dogs. Pat attended Cherokee Elementary and Junior High School, and McClain High School. She moved back to Tulsa with her parents in 1961.
Pat said that she remembers going everywhere with her brother, Ron, when they lived in Turley. When he went somewhere, he would take her along. Pat worked as a carhop when she was in Turley. She said that she could make $100 in tips on a Friday night.
Pat was a United States Air Force Veteran, in the tradition of her Father, and brothers, who all served in the military. While in the Service, Pat married Raymond Jubera. After Ray got out of the Service, they moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where they had two children, Dawn, and Keri Ann.
While raising Dawn and Keri, Pat worked in the banking industry for over thirty years while periodically holding additional part time work. She often held two and three jobs at once in order to ensure her daughters had what they needed.
While the girls were growing up they were seldom alone, Pat’s home was a landing spot for many of the neighborhood children. In particular friends like Lori and Christine spent a lot of their childhood being with and learning from Pat. Pat did her best (along with Lori and Christine’s mothers) to instill values and morals in the girls and to show them by example what a single mother could do if she put her mind to it. Pat and the other mothers showed the girls how to find worth and value in themselves and that has served them all very well in their relationships as grown woman and now as mothers themselves.
Pat was very active in the service of her community. She was a member of the Eagles Club. She held many club positions over the years, up to and including Madam President. But by far her greatest accomplishment as an Eagle was being named Mother of the year. A title well deserved and one she held proudly.
Amazingly she still found time to pursue her own passion of writing stories and poems, getting so far as to having some published in magazines. She also earned an Associates degree in Business Administration.
One of her greatest joys was her grandchildren Alex, Zac, Braden, and Luke. She was a proud grandmother and never let an opportunity pass to show off her boys. She also never let an opportunity to spoil them pass by her either.
Pat had a big accepting heart. She accepted Dawn and Keri’s husband’s Al and Stephen as if they were her own. She was a perfect example of everything a mother in law could and should be. She also had plenty of love to give to others, everyone she came in contact with she made feel special.
Pat was a beautiful, kind, loving, generous woman and she will be greatly missed by all.
Pat is survived by her daughters: Dawn (Stephen Quantrell), of Garland, Texas, and Keri Ann (Al Johnson), of Phoenix, Arizona; and her brother, Ronald Willis Ballew (Judy Ballew), of Oklahoma.
Pat was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Ray Jubera of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her father: Burney Willis Ballew, of Mangum, Oklahoma; her mother: Mary Etta (Marietta) Harmon Ballew Scott, of Clarksville, Texas; her brother Donald Ray Ballew, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; and her brother: Richard Allen Ballew, of Garland, Texas.
Pat was baptized into the church at the Turley Church of Christ where she went to church 3 times a week and learned the scriptures. Later in life she attended Sunday service and Bible study at First Presbyterian Church in Garland.
