Patt Irene Egger McGee's Obituary
McGee, Patt Irene Egger was born in Brownwood, TX on December 24, 1930 to Raleigh and Maggie Egger and passed peacefully from this life on March 28, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was raised an only child and graduated from Brownwood High School in 1948, going on to attend North Texas State University and Abilene Christian University where she received Bachelors degrees in Music and English. She had a beautiful soprano voice and sang lead in several operas. She also played and taught the piano for many years and worked and lived at Boles Home for Children for several years where she traveled with the chorus. She then moved to Lubbock, TX where she worked as a secretary for Norvel Young at Broadway Church of Christ. There she met Floyd McGee and they married on October 19, 1956. She later went on to work as a secretary for Lubbock National Bank. In 1969, they moved to Dallas, TX and eventually became the secretary for Northside Church of Christ, now Riverside Church of Christ. In 1979, George Bailey asked her to be his secretary at Prestoncrest Church of Christ, where she went on to work for 25 years until her retirement in 2004. Patt was a devoted Christian woman and a faithful member of the Church of Christ her entire life, never wavering for a moment. She was a devoted wife of nearly 55 years and a loving mother to 5 children. She had a kind and gentle spirit and all who knew her loved her as she loved them. She is preceded in death by her parents, Raleigh and Maggie Egger, and a brother Winston, who died at birth. She is survived by her loving husband, Floyd McGee, children Gina Lyon, Charlotte McGee, Jeff McGee and wife Donna, Christi Guenther and husband Jim, and Scott McGee, and grandchildren Ashley and Donald McGee, and Raleigh and Rachel Guenther. The family would like to give special thanks to Dr. Bijal Modi and the nurses and staff at Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas for their incredible compassion and care during such a difficult time. Patt is in Heaven now and no doubt hearing the words, “well done my good and faithful servant”. She was an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her and will be dearly missed. Family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM on Friday, April 1, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas.
