Darrell Axline's Obituary
Darrell Axline left his earthly life to be with our God April 19, 2025.
Darrell was born April 5, 1939, in Dallas, Texas. Darrell was born as a gift. Darrell’s parents George Henry Axline (Bill) and Pauline Lillian Axline (Polly) had been praying for a gift for 10 years. Bill and Polly lived in Wichita Falls, Texas. They welcomed their gift with open arms.
Darrell’s family was spread between Wichita Falls, Fort Worth and Jacksboro, Texas. Large family dinners were a highlight of Darrell’s life. He was particularly fond of Fort Worth and all the open spaces to investigate.
Darrell often spoke of how meaningful it was to grow up in Wichita Falls. Making friends and memories for a lifetime. Darrell never forgot his Wichita Falls friends.
Darrell was a sports lover. He played little league baseball, ran track and absolutely loved football. Friday Nite Lights were a huge occasion in Wichita Falls. Everyone looked forward to the game. As a matter of fact, it was a must! After moving to Dallas, golf became a big hobby in his life also. Darrell and his dad enjoyed hunting and fishing together along with a special friend, Slats. Slats was their neighbor but was considered family.
Darrell moved to Dallas in 1963. He began his career with Gilbert Xray. Meeting owner Kenneth Gilbert, Bob Sanford and Les Moss changed Darrell’s life. These men were mentors and friends. He held them in a special place in his heart. His career with Gilbert Xray spanned 35 years. He adored his Gilbert Xray family. He spoke often of the fun times during his 35 years.
Darrell is survived by his beautiful daughter Kim Bourgeois (Texas City, TX). His daughter Paula Fuqua Glenn preceded him in death. He was always amazed at how creative his daughters were. Their love of paint and glitter was fun to watch. He is survived by his grandchildren, Wesley Fuqua, Kayla Abernathy (Chase Abernathy) and Stephen Bourgeois.
Darrell is survived by his wife Diane of 37 years. Darrell and Diane married April 1, 1988. They celebrated their 37th wedding anniversary and his birthday prior to his passing. They shared a love of golf, travel and a lot of laughter during their marriage. Dallas Athletic Club played a key role in their lives for 20 years.
Darrell will be buried with his family in Wichita Falls, TX. He said he wanted to honor his parents for the great life they created for him. A Celebration of Life party will be scheduled in the future.
