Ralph Allen Michaels' Obituary
Michaels, Ralph was born on June 24, 1927 in Cleveland, Ohio to parents, David and Elizabeth “Besse” Michaels. He passed away on April 9, 2013 at his home in Fairview, TX. After serving in the South Pacific and the Korean War, Ralph married the love of his life, Mildred Marie Hengenius, on February 7, 1953 in Garfield Heights, Ohio. After their honeymoon, they immediately headed south where he began his 44 year career in the corrugated packaging industry. Ralph and Mildred had two children: Barbara and Linda. In 1962, he enjoyed the challenge of opening and managing a box plant in Fernwood, Mississippi and then again in Houston, TX in 1969. After seven years in Texas, Ralph and Mildred packed up and headed to the U.S. Headquarters of MacMillan Bloedel Packing, Inc. He retired on October 1, 1997as the Sr. VP of Marketing. Ralph moved back to Texas in 2008 after the death of his beloved wife of 55 years. He was able to enjoy his family, especially his grandchildren, and more recently, his first great-grandchild. Ralph enjoyed reading, golf, fishing, card playing, gin rummy being his favorite. He loved baseball. The Atlanta Braves was his favorite team. However, upon coming back to Texas, he learned to appreciate the Rangers. Ralph was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Sarah Crooks; his brothers, Bill and Dick Michaels. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara & Dan Debenport; daughter and son-in-law, Linda & Eric Harris; grandchildren, Ross Harris and wife Whitney, Jennifer Harris, and Joe Harris; great-grandson, Jackson Harris. In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions to the American Heart Association. Services will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 12, 2013 in Restland Memorial Chapel.
