Ray E. Schmitz's Obituary
Ray E. Schmitz, a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend, peacefully passed away on December 5th, 2023, in Plano, TX, with his family by his side. Ray was 77 years old.
Ray was born on May 25th, 1946, in Paris, Arkansas, to Anthony Matt Schmitz and Bertha Louise (Rietkze) Schmitz. He graduated high school from Subiaco Academy, and college from Central Arkansas. After college, Ray served in the US Army in Vietnam. He had a distinguished career as a financial executive, most recently serving as the Chief Financial Officer of Dynamex Inc. After retiring from Dynamex, Ray and his son, John Schmitz, co-founded Lake House Bar and Grill in Dallas.
Ray enjoyed spending time with his wife, Christy, at their farmhouse and in Maui. His interests included playing golf, biking around White Rock Lake, and investing in stocks.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents; four brothers Leonard, Andy, Justin, and Ambrose Schmitz; and two sisters Agnes Hess and Sister Cabrini Schmitz. He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Christy Schmitz; stepchildren Taylor and Haley Stubbs; son Michael Schmitz and wife Patricia Schmitz, and granddaughters Sabrina and Sally Schmitz; sons John and Brian Schmitz; daughter Catherine Schmitz; brothers Lawrence, Cletus, and Denis Schmitz; and sister Mary Ann Hite.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 4pm on Thursday, January 11th, 2024, at First United Methodist Church in Richardson, Texas. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association in Ray’s honor.
