I first want to say that I am VERY much at a loss of words at a time like this. I will ALWAYS remember MY Uncle Ray as a VERY smart man who wrote letters to my Dad and our family at least once a month with the "Dallas" family update when I was a little boy. Those letters were GREAT to get because my Dad would let us read them, BUT when we got to the part of the letter where they spoke about " aero-space industry" it was time to skip ahead. Some of my "Greatest" childhood memories were of My parents Chico & Nancy Santillan packing us kids(Stevie, Teresa, Roni, Mitch and Papoose) into the van for a Christmas school break trek to Dallas to see what was going on in the State/City where my dad grew up. It was Great, we would get to meet up with all the other "Dallas" cousins and have fun or get in trouble OR get in TROUBLE while having fun. I was ALWAYS able to make my Uncle Ray LAUGH, LAUGH OUT LOUD!! Most of the time he laugh out of shock and could not believe I had said what everyone else was thinking. I was/am "The Crazy CHIQUIO" of the family. My condolences go out to the whole "SANTILLAN" family. Unfortunately, we grow up and "life" gets in the way of the "Christmas Vacations" together and "The Family Reunions" beomce far and few between. I hope one day soon we can all put all the "life" that keeps us apart, aside for a couple of days/ a long weekend for a SANTILLAN RE-UNION, to celebrate the lives of the relatives who have passed on and are NOW happy(IER) becauce they are with the people they lost and missed for so long. I hope we can come together and share our memories of growing up Santillan. I am SURE that we all have so many different versions of growing up Santillan…it would be nice to be together to celebrate the lives of the people we lost and miss so much! I'll Start with a short story…EVERYTIME you went to GRANDMA & GRANDPA'S house you had better be ready to EAT, the same with Ray & Juanitas, Bob & Sarahs, Chico & Nancys. For some reason FOOD was always the common factor, if you will. Last but Not LEAST for my Uncle Ray, I Thank You for all your kindness and letting us come from California to Dallas and sleep anywhere in the house as long as we were together for the holidays!! That IS something special. A treasured Memory that I have had locked away but I was able to speak with you about it the last time we spoke…I was still able to make you laugh with a story of things that Happened when we were in Arizona….I will just say this, Georgie , Michael, Ray and Stevie kept the BUBBLES going in the SPA/Hot tub and we ALL had a GREAT LAUGH~~~yes even you Tio Ray. I love you and may you rest in peace. Please say Hi to my parents when you get around to seeing them. Thank you again for everything, Stevie Ray Santillan
