Raymond William Scadden's Obituary
Raymond William Scadden, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, at the age of 90.
Born on April 11, 1935, in Springfield, Massachusetts, Ray lived a life marked by curiosity, kindness, and quiet strength. After graduating from Florida State University with his undergraduate degree, he earned a master’s degree in geology from Bowling Green State University. He proudly served four years in the United States Coast Guard before beginning a distinguished career as a petroleum geologist. His work took him across the world, and he cherished sharing stories of his travels and discoveries with his family.
In the summer of 1962, Ray met the love of his life, Dorothy, on a blind date. Just two and a half months later, they were married—a partnership that lasted 63 years and stood as a lasting testament to love, loyalty, and devotion. Together, they raised two sons and built a life filled with laughter, exploration, and deep affection. Ray was preceded in death by their son Kenneth in 2009. He took great pride in his surviving son and four grandchildren, whose curiosity and accomplishments brought him endless joy.
Known for his gentle nature, sharp intellect, and understated humor, Ray approached life with patience and generosity. He was a devoted husband and father, a steadfast friend, and a man who valued integrity above all.
Ray’s legacy lives on in the family he cherished and in the countless lives he touched with his warmth, wisdom, and kindness.
Private services will be held by the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice in Ray’s memory.
