Robert Paul Buckner's Obituary
Robert Paul Buckner, 73, of Whitney, Texas, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, in Whitney, Texas. He was born on February 9, 1946 to Ralph and Annabelle Buckner in Dallas, Texas, and accepted Jesus as his Savior at a young age. Bob graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1964. Bob received his BBA from the University of Texas – Austin, as well as his JD from the University of Texas School of Law, in 1970, where he was a member of the Texas Law Review. Bob then began his legal career in El Paso. In 1973, Bob and his family moved back to Dallas where he continued practicing law as a city attorney with the City of Dallas. He spent the majority of his career as assistant general counsel at Lone Star Gas Company (later becoming TXU) before retiring in 1998. Bob continued with his own legal practice in Dallas and Hillsboro, Texas, until his death. He was a member of the State Bar of Texas, Dallas County and Hill County Bar Associations, Texas Exes Association, as well as a dedicated member of White Bluff Chapel.
He is survived by his wife Rose Buckner, whom he married in November 2003; son Robert Paul Buckner, Jr. (wife Beth Buckner) children Erica, Luke (wife Megan Buckner) and Emily of Bartonville, Texas; son Alan Charles Buckner (wife Laura Buckner) children Charlie, Wesley and Caroline of Houston, Texas; daughter Stefani Buckner Newberry (husband Brad Newberry), children Case, William and Buckner of Dallas, Texas; daughter Margaret Buckner, child Annabelle of Dallas, Texas; stepson James Michael Stewart of Baltimore, Maryland; sister Sue Buckner Brown (husband Gaylon Brown) children Lauren, Andrew, and Jeremy of Plano, Texas; and cousin David Swofford (wife Judy Swofford).
