Robert Lee Crawford's Obituary
On Thursday, April 2, 2020 Robert Lee Crawford aka “POP”, age 98, of Dallas, Texas fell asleep in the arms of our Savior.
He was born November 30, 1921 in Jefferson, Texas to the parents of Sherman Crawford and Alice Powell. Robert accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age. He received his education in the Jefferson, Texas School District.
As a member of the “Greatest Generation” and veteran of the World War II, Robert Crawford enlisted on September 5, 1942 and served with distinction in the Army Air Force; Company A; 911th Air Base Security Battalion 13 out of Fort Sam Houston Texas. PFC Crawford proudly served his country and was honorable discharged on February 28,1946. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Army Air Force was ever present in the way he carried and conducted himself.
Following his tenure of performing his civil duties, Robert worked as a Head Chef for Campbell Taggart, Inc, where he retired September,1986.
Robert was united in Holy Matrimony to Loraine Jacobs on August 12,1960. He was step-father of two children; Wilma Ruth Jacob and Frank Harris III.
Robert was a God-fearing and humble man, who loved the Lord and demonstrated through the life he lived. He was a preacher for many years until his health started to declined.
He leaves to cherish his memories; one brother- Matthew Crawford(North Carolina); one sister- Virginia Norman (Dallas, Texas); three granddaughters; LaTonya(Arnold) Lambert-(Dallas Texas) ; Sondra Harris (Dallas, Texas); Sheila(Tremaine) Warren-(Junction City, KS); one great granddaughter- Lauryn Lambert; five great grandsons- Nicholas Lambert; Jeffery, Jacob, Jordan and Trayveon Warren; One great god daughter-Mercedez Johnson. And a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
