Dr. Robert "Bobby" Dobbs' Obituary
Dr. Robert D. DobbsDr. Robert D. Dobbs, age 77, passed away Sunday, February 24 in Dallas Texas, after a brave fight against cancer. He was born January 5, 1942 in Seymour Texas to Troy and Kathryn Dobbs. Bob grew up in Forth Worth Texas, where he attended Paschal High School and starred as both a pitcher on the baseball team and the quarterback of the football team. He attended T.C.U. on a baseball scholarship and was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity. It was at T.C.U. where he met his wife Pam Conway, with whom he shared 54 years of a truly wonderful marriage in Dallas Texas. Bob worked in Sequoia National Park the summer before his senior year as a garbageman—which provided Pam’s family some jokes about his future (although he was already accepted to Baylor School of Dentistry, where he graduated in 1968.)Bob and Pam settled in Lake Highlands, where they raised their children Leslie, Jeff, and Scott, and where Bob was a dentist for over thirty years. Bob enjoyed many things in his life, including watching his kids play sports and playing golf with his best friend Mike, including some grand adventures, with a highlight of attending the Ryder Cup in Spain.Bob’s summers included yearly vacations with his family, through national parks and interesting places all the way from Texas to the Canadian Rockies along carefully planned routes where he and Pam would drag their kids out of bed in the wee hours of the morning to Moro Rock in Yosemite, Balanced Rock in Arches, and many other places so they could be first and get a few pics pretending no one else was there. Because of his and Pam’s love of Yellowstone, they bought a home in Victor Idaho, across the Tetons from Jackson Hole, where the entire family, including grandchildren would gather and celebrate. Some of Bob’s favorite things and activities included his children, cooking for the family who loved his creations, his recliner, crossword puzzles, playing Words with Friends, the Rangers, the Cowboys, and especially the T.C.U. Horned Frogs, his uniform wearing singing hamster, his laser sounds and magnets, his Idaho home with its pine trees and views, his dogs, including the German Shepherds who changed his and Pam’s lives, starting with Max and then Bonnie, who Pam originally claimed would cause her to leave but ended up being her dearest friend. Bob loved his seven grandkids with the purity of a grandparent’s love, and when they were babies, he loved letting them snuggle on his lap, while teaching how to nap them by example, and spent years showing his love and patience as they continued to crawl all over him as they got bigger, and he always took great pleasure and pride in watching his grandkids grow as well as watching them in their various activities, and always being available with an open and understanding ear and sage advice.Bob is survived by his wife Pam, his brother Jerry (Diane), his daughter Leslie Tremble (Jeremy), his son Jeff (Claire), and his son Scott (Kristin), and Leslie’s children Madison, Peyton, and Audrey, Jeff’s children Jackson and Sydney, and Scott’s children Jack and Autumn. Visitation for Robert Dobbs will take place on Saturday, March 2, 2019 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the Memorial Chapel. We all will miss Bob immensely but rejoice that he rests in the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and has joined his parents and his sister Madelyn, and now is surrounded by both his dogs and his grand dogs who all loved him and the all the table scraps he snuck them when no one else was supposed to be watching. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the German Shepherd Dog Rescue Club.
