Robert Allan Doyna's Obituary
Robert Allan Doyna was born on May 14, 1942, in Brooklyn, New York and went to his Lord on April 28, 2018, in Dallas, Texas. In 1963, Robert married Joan Schukal with whom he has two children, Douglas and Jennifer. The marriage ended in divorce. A graduate of Marist College, Robert proudly spent his career as an executive manager at IBM. In 1987, Robert entered the IBM Quarter Century Club which was an important milestone in his life. In retirement, Robert met Don Smith who he married in Bridgehampton, New York in 2014. Committed to serving others, Robert tirelessly gave to his community, his beloved church, and his favorite charities. Known for his leadership, professionalism and kind heart, Robert was an incredible presence in spirit, wit, and conversation. He cherished his friendships and time spent with his 5 grandchildren, his colleagues at the church and his neighbors. Robert will be greatly missed but always remembered. Robert was preceded in death by his brother, William Doyna, in 2017. He is survived by his husband, Don Smith; the mother of his children, Joan Doyna; his two children, Douglas Doyna and Jennifer James; his brother, Wallace Doyna; his sister, Marijane Rhinebold as well as his 5 grandchildren: Jennifer, Sophie, Ellery, Austin, and Scarlett. The family will receive guest on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Restland Funeral Home. The Requiem Eucharist Memorial in honor of Robert Allan Doyna will be held on Saturday, May 5th at 1 pm Episcopal Church of the Transfiguration 14115 Hillcrest Road Dallas, Texas 75254.
