Robert Jack Lockett's Obituary
Robert J. Lockett, age 83, passed away on June 6, 2018. He was born May 19, 1935, in Breckenridge, Texas, to William Cureton and Eula Mae Lockett. He was a 1953 graduate of Breckenridge High School. Bob then attended Texas A&M University on a football scholarship and played for legendary coach Bear Bryant as one of the Junction Boys. He received a B.S. in Petroleum Engineering and a B.A. in Mathematics and was employed by Sun Oil Company. After 20 years with Sun Oil, he worked as a petroleum-engineering consultant until retirement. Anyone who met Bob knew of his love for football, his driven spirit, and his clever wit that could bring laughter to anyone in his presence. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley Lockett; daughters Laura Mank, Sherry Renfroe, Susan Ivsic and her husband Ludo Ivsic; and granddaughter Jenna Renfroe. Family, friends, and others whose lives Bob touched are invited to a memorial service to celebrate his life at First United Methodist Church in Richardson, on June 12th at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer’s research or a charity of your choice.
