Robert Gilmore Maher's Obituary
Robert (Bob) Gilmore Maher, age 73, died at Sunrise Senior Living of Frisco, Texas on Monday, October 20, 2014. After struggling with ailing health for many years and recent complications with cancer, Bob’s physical life finally passed away. Born on May 4, 1941, in Taylorsville, Mississippi, Bob lived his early years in Osyka, Mississippi and graduated from Progress High School and The University of Southern Mississippi. After graduation he lived briefly in several cities, spent the early years of marriage in Atlanta, Georgia and Houston, Texas and then finally settled in Plano, Texas in 1971, where he would raise a family and live for 42 years. Bob worked in middle management for several computer companies throughout his career, such as Honeywell and Epson, before retiring from TAC Americas in 2006. Over the years Bob was a faithful church member at First Baptist Plano, served as the captain of the Plano Wildcat Quarterback Club, helped with the Texas Baptist Men in disaster relief, and enjoyed his favorite hobby of photography. Survivors include his loving wife of 50 years, Jean Maher; son, Warren Maher (Stephanie) of Sadler, Texas; daughter, Robbie Rodriguez (Ignacio) of Frisco, Texas and son, Mitch Maher (Tara) of Katy, Texas. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, whom he loved deeply: Wyatt and Jolie Maher of Sadler, Texas, Ignacio Jr., Alana, and Robert Rodriguez of Frisco, Texas, and Macy, Molly, and Madelyn Maher of Katy, Texas. Last but not least, Bob leaves behind his faithful dog Eve. The visitation for Robert Maher will be Wednesday, October 22, 2014 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, in the Chapel at First Baptist Church of Plano. The funeral service for Robert Maher will be Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 11:00 AM, in the Sanctuary at First Baptist Church of Plano. Graveside service will follow at Plano Mutual Cemetery. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, at Restland Road, Dallas, TX 75238.
