Robert Herman Maurer's Obituary
Robert Herman Maurer (Bobby) was born September 30, 1925 in Pharr, Texas. He went to be with the Lord February 18, 2010 in Dallas at the age of 84. Bobby was a graduate of Pharr San Juan Alamo High School and Georgia Tech University with a degree in Chemical Engineering. He was a Korean Veteran, having served with the 1st Marine Division as a 1st Lieutenant. He received the Purple Heart and a Commendation Medal with a combat V. Bobby was a long time employee of Celanese Chemical Corp. in Bishop, Corpus Christi and Dallas. He was an active member of Park Cities Baptist Church. Bobby is survived by his wife of sixty years, Janell Fitz Maurer of Dallas. There are three children, Paul Maurer of Denton, George Maurer (Lorena) of San Perlita and Suzanne Solomon (Gary) of Colorado. One sister, Ann Maurer Pogue (Dale) of Rockport and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers: John, Charles and George Maurer and by his parents John J. and Agnes Maurer. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 22 at 12:30 pm at the Restland Funeral Home chapel in Dallas. Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 21 from 4 – 6 pm at Restland. Memorial contributions may be made to the Volunteer Services Council at the Denton State Supposed Living Center, P.O.B. 368, Denton, TX 76202. “Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord”.
