Roderick George Anderson's Obituary
Anderson, Roderick was born on March 6, 1928 in Cherry Valley, Arkansas and passed away on March 2, 2013 in Carrollton, Texas. He is preceded in death by his siblings Jennings, Vorene, Mack and Veatrice. Rod is survived by his devoted wife of 61 years, Jo Ann Anderson; daughter, Jenean Henderson; son, David Anderson; granddaughter, Lisa Pitts; son-in-law, David Henderson; daughter-in-law, Donella Anderson; brother, Cary Anderson, and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his granddaughters, Lily and Holly Kate who he loved dearly. Rod graduated from Cherry Valley High School and went in to the Army at Ft. Chaffee. After the military he attended Westark Jr. College, and then went to work for OG&E where he happily worked for 32 years. After retiring, he volunteered for Project Compassion giving his time and musical talents to many nursing homes, with wife Jo Ann accompanying him on the piano. They were given an award for volunteers of the year by Project Compassion which was richly deserved. Rod was a pastoral care minister for Victory Temple, comforting many of the sick and elderly people in hospitals and nursing homes. Rod was an avid Razorback fan and loved to join his many friends at the Senior Center to shoot pool and enjoy some fellowship most every day. He will be greatly missed by his wide circle of friends within the community and church he loved, in both Ft. Smith and Carrollton, TX. Rod was loved by his family and was a wonderful person who contributed greatly to the world around him with his good humor and loving personality. Service will be at 11:00 AM on March 06, 2013 at the Harvest Time Tabernacle in Fort Smith Ark.
