Rodney Duane Malcolm's Obituary
Rodney Duane Malcolm, 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 13, 2025. He was born Rodney Duane Brophy on February 14, 1954, in Aberdeen, South Dakota, to Raymond and Charlotte Brophy. He was later adopted by Dewain L. Malcolm.
Rodney proudly served his country for 21 years in the United States Army, specializing in helicopter repair and inspection. After retiring from the military, he continued his aviation career as a helicopter mechanic and inspector for prominent defense contractors, including Lockheed and DynCorp. His service to the nation extended into civilian life as well, as he worked as a government inspector overseeing U.S. contractors in South Korea until his retirement in 2015.
Rodney is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Un Suk Malcolm; his daughter, Elizabeth Hostetler, and her husband, Charles; his son, Christopher Malcolm; and two cherished grandchildren, Tabitha and Cameron Hostetler. He is also survived by his sisters, Pamela Baker, Debra Anderson, and Cindy Black; his brother, Rickey Malcolm; his stepsisters, Becky Milkie and Sandra Roder; and their spouses. Rodney leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and extended family members who will deeply miss him.
Rodney’s life was marked by dedication, service, and a profound love for his family. He will be remembered with great respect and affection by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
A public time of visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, April 21, 2025, at Restland Funeral Home, located at 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.
Those wishing to send flowers may do so by contacting Rembrandt Florist by Restland at (972) 761-8989. Independent florists are kindly asked to deliver flowers directly to Restland Funeral Home by 3:00 PM on Monday, April 21, 2025, to ensure proper and timely display for Rodney's visitation.
A funeral service to honor the life of Rodney will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, TX 75243.

Interment will follow at 11:30 AM, immediately after conclusion of the chapel service at Restland Memorial Park Cemetery in the Garden: Court of Reflections. The U.S. Army Honor Guard will be in attendance to render Military Honors in remembrance of Rodney and his dedicated service to his country.
A reception will be held once the graveside concludes from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM at Restland's Event Center. Rodney's family would like to warmly extend an invitation to anyone wishing to attend the reception in order to continue in fellowship and in the sharing of memories. The Restland Event Center is also located on-site at Restland Funeral Home, 9220 Restland Road Dallas, TX 75243
