Ronald Delano Piacenti's Obituary
PIACENTI, RONALD DELANO , 82, of Arlington, Texas passed away peacefully on April 6, 2012. He was born on July 22, 1929 in Chicago Heights, Illinois to William and Marie Piacenti and graduated from Bloom High School before attending DePaul University. He enlisted in the Army in 1949 and served in the First Calvary Division earning a Purple Heart for wounds suffered in Korea. After recovering in Denver, he was reassigned to Ft Sill, Oklahoma. There he met Betty Keeling, of Apache, Oklahoma. They were married on February 1, 1952. After his discharge, they moved to Chicago Heights and then to Park Forest, Illinois in 1957. Ron was President of the Chicago Heights Furniture Mart before moving to Arlington, Texas in 1980. He continued to work in the furniture business until he retired in 1991. He was an avid fan of the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks and Dallas Cowboys. Ron loved playing cards, reading and working crossword puzzles but mostly enjoyed spending time with his family and relatives. He was well-known as a great host with a bottomless candy dish for the grandchildren. Ron will be remembered by his loving wife and their children, Ron and Terri Piacenti of Dallas, Rick and Grace Piacenti of Houston, Randy Piacenti of Houston, Rhonda Pinkerton of Artesia, N.M. and Roger Piacenti of Dallas. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, his sister Arlene Hare of Wheaton, Illinois and his sister and brother-in law Cheryl and Carmine Caruso of Tamarac, Florida. He was predeceased by his grandson, Lucas Piacenti, his sister Peggy Cullen and brother Bill Piacenti. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 pm, Monday, April 9th at Restland Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 am, Tuesday, April 10th at Restland Wildwood Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Myelodysplastic Syndrome Foundation (www.mds-foundation.org) or the Community Hospice of Texas at Arlington Memorial Hospital, 800 W Randol Mill Road, Arlington, TX 76012.
