Rosa Marina Barton's Obituary
Rosa Marina Barton passed away on November 29, 2014 at Assisted Living at Silver Gardens, 3980 Deep Valley Drive, Dallas, TX, 75244 at 90. She was born August 30, 1924 to Joel and María de Jesús Bolado in Hidalgo, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. She was the eighth of their ten children. Rosa Marina married Rev. Roy Barton on September 7, 1952. She became a naturalized U.S citizen in 1955. She was a proud graduate of Rio Grande City High School in 1941. She graduated from Business School in San Antonio in 1943 and also attended Trinity University and Eastfield Junior College. Rosa Marina was employed as the office administrator for the Rio Grande Conference from 1964-1974 in San Antonio, and later at Perkins School of Theology from 1974 until her retirement in 1990. Rosa Marina translated several books and articles into Spanish and edited the Rio Grande Annual Conference newspaper for several years. She taught part-time as an instructor for Spanish language classes at the Dallas County Community Colleges. Rosa Marina was an active member of Agape Memorial United Methodist Church. She loved reading the Bible, gardening, playing the piano, and, after her retirement, painting. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Rosa Marina will be remembered by her children, Roy, Martha “Marty”, Richard and his wife Vivian and Paul and his wife Beth; grandchildren, Michael Barton, Elisa Barton, and Victor Barton. She is survived by her brothers Rogelio Bolado, Homero Bolado, Victor Bolado, and her sister, Alicia Dalglish, sister-in-law Raquel Castaño, and several nephews and nieces. The relatives and friends of Rosa Marina are invited to a visitation from 6:30 to 7:00pm with a memorial service to start at 7 pm on Friday, December 5th at Agape Memorial United Methodist Church, 5111 Capitol Ave. in Dallas. They are also invited to a funeral service for Rosa Marina at 11:00am on Saturday, December 6th at Restland Funeral Home’s Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave, Dallas, Texas, 75243. Internment will follow at Restland Memorial Park. The family is appreciative to the loving care the staff at Assisted Living at Silver Gardens provided Rosa Marina in her last years.
