Rosalyn McCarthy Hamilton's Obituary
Rosalyn “Rosie” McCarthy Hamilton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 with her grandson, Jeff Hamilton, and his mother, Gail Hervey, by her side. She was born in Oil City, Louisiana to Charles Francis McCarthy and Loia Hardy McCarthy on June 24, 1924. She graduated from Longview High School in 1942. Rosie worked her way up the banking ranks from teller to ultimately bank manager with Metropolitan Savings and Loan in Dallas. After retirement, she would spend most Fridays with her lifelong best friend Shirley (and husband Maffi) at Lone Star Park placing horse racing bets. She jokingly called this “going to work.” Rosie was an avid sports fan, with particular love for the Texas Longhorns, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys. She loved lunches with friends, Saturday movies with Gail, and spending time with her grandson and extended family. Rosie is survived by her grandson, Jeff Hamilton (Hector Sanchez), her sister Joan Painter, her nieces Joanie Davison, Jamie Fuller, Sheri Dickey, Karen Harton, her nephews Chuck Davison (Lisa), Steve Davison (Omera), and Mike Cox. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Dr. Robert S. Hamilton, 4 sisters, Theresa, Mary, Jane and Patty and niece Mary Frances Sonnabend (Jerry).
