Rosemary Edmiston's Obituary
EDMISTON, ROSEMARY joined her husband of 53 years of marriage in Heaven on December 11, 2013. She was born in Dallas, TX, the only child of Wm. Edward and Volla Rudolph Downing. Rosemary was raised by her mother after losing her father at a very early age, living at the time in Longview, TX. She and her mother eventually moved to Houston, TX where she graduated from San Jacinto High School. She attended UNT, Denton, TX. Rosemary married her sweetheart Clay C. Edmiston, August 21, 1948, in Edinburg, TX moving immediately to Dallas. She was a loving wife, and beloved daughter, mother, grandmother and a great friend. Rosemary leaves behind her only son Robert Edward Edmiston and his wife, Nancy and two grandsons, Kyle and Taylor, all of Ft. Mill, SC; brother-in-law John R. Edmiston and wife Jimmie Lou of San Antonio and numerous family and friends. Rosemary was Court Clerk to the late Robert M. Hill, U.S. District Judge, N. D. of TX at Dallas. She took early retirement so she and her husband could travel in their motor home making many trips across country as well as abroad. After her husband’s death, cruising was her favorite mode of traveling. Her motto, “Have bags packed will travel!” At the time of her death she was residing at Presbyterian Village North. Family will receive friends from 12:30-1:30 PM on Monday, December 16, 2013 at Restland Funeral Home. The Rev. Brent Ashby will officiate the graveside service following at 2:00 PM. Rosemary will be buried alongside her husband at Restland’s Garden of the Cross. Reception to follow at Presbyterian Village North, Joyce Hall Library, 8600 Skyline Dr. in Dallas. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to Presbyterian Village North Caring Foundation, Dallas or to the ALS Association of North TX, 1231 Greenway Dr., Suite 270, Irving, TX, 75038 in remembrance of her husband Clay who died of Lou Gehrig’s Disease.
