Ruby Shipley Penn's Obituary
PENN, RUBY IRENE SHIPLEY went home to be with her Lord & Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 8, 2023. Ruby was born on November 16, 1934, to Luther and Merle Shipley, in Shamrock, Texas. She was one of four sisters whom she loved dearly.
After graduating high school early, at the age of 16, she moved to Dallas where she met and married Harry Penn on January 2, 1954. Ruby was an excellent and valued bookkeeper throughout her life, even working well into her 80’s. She was an avid reader and also possessed many creative talents. She loved arts and crafts, painting, gardening, and cooking, to name a few. Ruby excelled at sewing and most all of the family members have received one of her beautiful handmade quilts, lovingly made for each person.
Ruby and Harry were blessed with four children, Neita, Allan, Stephen and Pamela: 16 grandchildren, and now 25 great-grandchildren! One of her greatest joys was spending time with those she loved. A woman who laughed often, loved deeply and impacted the lives of all who knew her, with her strength and resilience in facing struggles and challenges. Ruby has inspired all who were blessed to know her, and she will be greatly missed!
A woman of great faith, Ruby is survived by three of her children, Neita Eileen Penn Russell and husband David; Stephen Jay Penn and wife, Sandra; and Pamela Jean Burke; her 16 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, and her fabulous sister, Una Faye Osbourne.
A graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 12, 2023, at Restland Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas
