Ruth Jeane Clinger's Obituary
Mrs. Clinger, 88, died April 7, 2008, at CC Young Memorial Home. She was born to Dr. and Mrs. Garrett J. Kemp, scientist, in Stillwater, Oklahoma and moved to Dallas in 1926 and became a member of the Highland Park United Methodist Church. She attended Highland Park High School and Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Delta, Delta, Delta Sorority. In 1939 she married Charles Burke Clinger, retired president of Gifford-Hill American, Inc., and the son of Mr. Robert Henry Clinger who was a County Engineer of Dallas. Mrs. Clinger has been a member of the Methodist Board of Evangelism, chairman of various Methodist Church committees, Circle Chairman, Life member of the United Methodist Women’s Society of Christian Service. And intercessor at Highland Park United Methodist Church Prayer Tower. In His Steps Bible Study Sunday School Class, Thursday Bible Study Class, Prayer group of University Park United Methodist Church, Mary K. Craig Class, Dallas Women’s Club, Marianne Scruggs Garden Club, American Society of Civil Engineer’s Wives Club. She is survived by her Son, Robert K. Clinger; Daughter Carol Clinger Reed; their spouses, Diane and David, four grandsons, Chad Clinger and Robert Burns and their wives, Lynda and Maria Christina, Brian Clinger, David Clinger; 2 granddaughters, Christi Clinger and Susan Flessner and Husband Michael; five great-grandsons, and four great-granddaughters; sister-in-law Reta Kemp; four nieces and one nephew. Her greatest interests and love have been in God, His Word, her family, home, friends, and travel.
