Ruth Francis Goudie's Obituary
Ruth Francis Goudie, 95, died April 27, 2022, at Monarch at Richardson. She was born July 26, 1926, in Kansas City, MO, to Hollie McConnell Francis and John Francis. In high school she sang on the radio as a Kansas City Kitty. She attended Kansas City Junior College for two years before marrying James Edward Goudie, a geologist. They moved to Texas, where she spent the rest of her life. She lived for over 30 years in Farmers Branch, where she was an active volunteer at the library and the senior center. She also delivered for Meals on Wheels. A wordsmith and avid reader, she wrote poetry and published a children's book, Sometimes Words Are Strange, shortly before her death. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Henry Russell Francis, and husband Jim and a granddaughter Devin Donahue Goudie. She is survived by daughter Jeffrey Ann Goudie (Thomas Fox Averill) of Topeka, KS; son Steven Alexander Goudie (Susan Donahue Goudie) of Dallas; two granddaughters, Eleanor Goudie-Averill of Chesterfield, MA, and Sydney Donahue Goudie of San Antonio; and grandson Alexander Goudie-Averill of Minneapolis; and many nieces and nephews. The family wants to thank Ardent Hospice for their dedicated care. A private family celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
