Ruth Wilson Keeton November 29, 1921 – December 13, 2017 Ruth Wilson Keeton, 96, born November 29, 1921, in Fort Towson, Oklahoma passed away December 13, 2017 at her home in Dallas, Texas. Her father was Edward Lewis Wilson and her mother was Nina Estelle (Selph) Wilson. Ruth was a member of the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma and a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. Her childhood was spent in East Dallas and she attended Southern Methodist University.During the time she attended Southern Methodist University in Dallas she met and married Grover C. Keeton. Her husband of 42 years preceded her in death in October 1984. After World War II they lived in San Antonio, Texas for a short time while Grover worked in parks and recreation for the City of San Antonio. The family then moved to Dallas where her husband worked for the City of Dallas Parks Department.Over the last 65 years she was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church and more recently NorthPark Presbyterian Church. She treasured her faith, church work and personal relationships developed at church over these many years. She served as an elder in the Presbyterian Church and on numerous church and Presbytery committees.She was also active in Kappa Alpha Theta sorority and the Dallas Woman’s Club. Her many interests included reading, gardening, bird watching, following local sports teams and enjoying several loyal pets. Throughout her life, she kept current on local and national news events.She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Grover C. Keeton; sister, Jane (Wilson) Hooper; brother, Edward L. Wilson, Jr.; and son, Grover C. Keeton, Jr.She is survived by her son, Kenneth W. Keeton and wife, Rebecca L. Keeton; niece Ruth Lynn Hooper, of Olsburg, Kansas; niece Sarah (Wilson) Andry and husband, Richard of Dallas, Texas; nephew Edward L. Wilson III of Dallas, Texas and nephew Philip L. Hooper, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Glenhaven, Colorado.A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at NorthPark Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to NorthPark All Saints Fund or the service organization of your choice.
