Sally Ann Bushnell's Obituary
Sally was born December 5, 1938, to Charles and Elaine Saunders in Burlington, NC. Her family relocated to Dallas where she attended Greiner Middle School. Sally also attended Sunset High School where she developed lifelong friends and was a spirited cheerleader. She graduated early and married her high school sweetheart, Jerrell Gleaves, and had two sons, Steve and Scott.
Sally loved animals, especially cats. One might refer to her as an “animal whisperer” because of her kind, loving, and patient disposition seemed to attract squirrels, birds, cats, and other animals to her side and into her lap. She seemed to understand them and they all knew she loved them.
She also enjoyed crossword puzzles and even continued to print out the crossword puzzles from the Dallas Morning News every day until the very end. She had a broad musical taste. She loved classical, rock-n-roll, big band, piano, and choir music.
Sally worked for Goldman Sachs as a receptionist and secretary for many years.
Sally was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Elaine Saunders, by her sister, Sandra Taylor, and brother-in-law, Ray Taylor, and by her late husbands, Jerrell Gleaves, Glen (Skip) Edblom, and Bob Bushnell.
Sally is survived by sons, Steve Gleaves (and wife, Carol), and Scott Gleaves (and wife, Sherri),
by nieces Meredith Tarrant (and husband, Jim), Michelle Sims (and husband, Stewart), and Melissa Taylor,
by grandchildren Sara Petty (and husband, Nick), Marcella Gleaves, Lindsay Gibson (and husband, Brian), Nathan Gleaves, and Taylor Payne (and husband, Matt),
and by great grandchildren Amelia Gibson, Addison Gibson, and Payton Payne.
