Samuel McPherson Mims Jr.'s Obituary
Samuel McPherson Mims, Jr., 100 passed away peacefully on March 19, 2025.
He was born on September 3, 1924, to Rev. Samuel McPherson and Lillian
Eichelberger Mims. Preceded in death by his beloved wife Peggy, son Christopher and
granddaughter Allison, he is survived by his daughter Lisabeth, his son Michael, his sons’ wives and his nine grandchildren.
Mack was a devoted husband and father, and a treasured friend. His three careers at Texas Instruments included lasting contributions in patent law, import & export law and immigration law. A long time member of Highland Park Methodist, he and Peggy were two founders of The Roundtable Class which met Sunday mornings for more than 60 years.
One of Mack’s favorite activities was his daily walk. He was known for many blocks around his home by neighbors who were long accustomed to seeing him. He was a famed hiker in the mountains above Camp Davis in Rociada, NM, being the one man who could reliably lead his group to the top of Castle Rocks and then back to camp at day’s end for happy hour and a well-deserved dinner.
Visitation hours are 4 to 5:30pm Tues., March 25 at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas. Services will begin at 10:30am on Wed., March 26 in Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park.
