Susan Elizabeth Whitley Sessions' Obituary
SESSIONS, SUSAN ELIZABETH WHITLEY born February 9, 1917 in Dallas, Texas and passed away on her 96th birthday, February 9, 2013 in Dallas, Texas. Sue was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in 1934, Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City in 1938, and SMU School of Law in 1949. She practiced law with her husband in the firm of Sessions and Sessions until she retired in 1980. She was a dedicated mother who served as girls scout leader, room mother, and on numerous school committees in her children’s schools. As a child she was a member of the Gaston Avenue Baptist Church where she was ‘100% every week’. In 1955 she and her family joined the Preston Hollow Presbyterian Church where she was a member for almost 60 years. Preceded in death by her mother, Susan Ruth Clarice Savage Whitley; father, William Ellis Whitley; sister, Mary Dell Whitley Wyatt, and her beloved husband of forty-seven years, Whitley Richard Sessions all of Dallas, Texas. Survived by three daughters, Diana Sessions Burns, Susan Elaina Sessions Degarmo, and Elizabeth (Betty) Ann Sessions Hallum; three granddaughters, Kelley Wilson Craft, Constance Sessions Burns, Mary Ann (Polly) Burns, and four great-grandchildren, Bethany Craft, Lindsey Craft, Travis Craft and Scott Burns-Zimmerman. Service will be held on Friday, February 15, 2013 at 12:00 Noon at the Abbey Chapel at Restland Funeral Home, Greenville Avenue and Restland Road.
