Taft C. Gray, Jr.'s Obituary
Mr. Taft C. Gray Jr. was born September 16, 1929 to the late Taft C Gray Sr. and Rachel Lisk in Rowlett Texas. Of this union seven children were born. He was precede in death by his parents, one sister, five brothers.He was educated in Rowlett according to the norms of that time. Taft married hid devoted sweetheart Zepherine Smith of Overton Texas in 1949 in Rockwall Texas. Of this union was born seven children, six of whom lived and were raised in Rowlett. When Taft was a young man he join Zion Baptist Church where he served dutifully for many years. Later in life he attended service with the Baha’is of Dallas County and always had various diverse and spiritual conversations with others until he was unable to attend any service outside of home.Taft worked hard for 38 years at what was originally known as Wyatt Food Store, later the store was renamed and is now known as Kroger. At Kroger he had a various assundry of duties, but primarily his occupation was listed as maintenance. Additionally he was a professional bee keeper who process and sold honey, he was self noted as the Dalrock Bee. He worked maintenance for various entities until he fully retired. At that point he did various jobs helping and volunteering his services to others such as the Feed The Children, Shriners/ Lions Club of Rowlett. There is a long list of individuals who he happily assisted with his generosity, kindness, and gentle spirit.He leaves to cherish his memory six children, James Edward Gray (Kathy) of Idaho, Betty Jean Shaw (Ted) Oklahoma, Carrie Ann Jennings (Melvin) Point TX, Taft Gray III (Lisa) Dallas, Cornelius Mark Gray of Frisco TX, Zepherine Deloris Gray of Lewisville TX. Two sisters Arbie Faye Brown of Dallas TX , and Sharon Amos of Bryan TX, twenty grandchildren, approximately twenty eight great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and host of nephews, nieces, cousins, in-laws.This small scale list is the bulk accumulation and accomplishments of Taft Columbia Gray Jr. May God rest his soul. I have fought a good fight, I have finished the faith, therefore there is made up for me a crown of righteousness.Visitation for Mr. Taft C. Gray, Jr. will be on Friday, September 13, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Zion Baptist Church, 2517 Dalrock Rd., Rowlett, Texas 75088. Funeral service will be on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Zion Baptist Church. Graveside will follow in the Garden of the Holy Family at Restland Cemetery.Funeral arrangements have been faithfully entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery.
