Terri Marie Herbst was born on July 7th, 1954 in Dallas, Texas; and passed in her home on June 27th, 2022 in Dallas. She was the second of two daughters of Peggy Marie O'Rourke and Horace Bruce Moran, Jr. She was raised and educated in Oak Cliff, where she attended George Peabody, L. V. Stockard, and Sunset High School, graduating in 1972. Terri and her family attended Cockrell Hill Church of Christ. When she was fifteen years old, she accepted Christ as her savior and was baptized while attending church summer camp at Camp Sandia, New Mexico.
After graduation, Terri married Robert Goddard, eventually becoming a naval wife for eight years, living in such diverse places as California, Idaho, and Connecticut. During this time, she gave birth to two sons, Robert in 1977 and Michael in 1980. She and her sons returned to Dallas in 1981, where she reconnected with and married Kim Herbst, her junior high school boyfriend, who adopted both boys. In May of 1982, she gave birth to her only daughter, Kimberly Marie.
Terri went to work for 7 Eleven Stores as a temporary cashier assisting her husband in the store he managed. Terri found that she enjoyed the busy pace of a convenience store and meeting different people every day, along with many regular customers. She was able to brighten the day of many with her quick smile and cheerful attitude. She was admired and respected by her coworkers and supervisors alike. Terri eventually attained the status of senior sales associate. She stayed with 7-Eleven even after Kim left for other opportunities, completing eighteen years before having to leave on disability. Almost six years later, Terri again worked with her husband at Silverwing Productions, where she worked on such national accounts as Academy Sports and Outdoors and The Dallas Cowboys. She left Silverwing after four years to care for her granddaughter Tracey Herbst.
While living in Connecticut, Terri enjoyed teaching bible classes, from cradle roll to junior high students, following in her mother’s footsteps. After the pandemic hit, Terri took on the joyful task of sending birthday and anniversary cards, get-well cards and cards of condolence to the bereaved members of the congregation.
Terri was preceded in death by her grandparents, her parents and their siblings, her mother-in-law, Gladys Carter and her siblings, sister and brother-in-law, Jaquelyn and Ed Russell, her sister-in-law, Sybil Julo, her brother-in-law, Teddy Yates, his wife Kiyoe and grand-daughter Elena, her sister-in-law Carol Green and her daughter Mindy, and a granddaughter, Rachel Marie Wade.
She is survived by her husband Kim, of Dallas, her sons, Robert and Michael of Fort Atkinson, Wisconsin, her daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and John Attebery of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, her brother-in-law, Carl Carter of Ada, Oklahoma and her sister-in-law, Gloria Hudson of Roff, Oklahoma. Terri also leaves behind her beloved granddaughter Tracey who remained the apple of her eye until she passed.
Also surviving Terri are her aunt Ruby Moran, uncle Weldon Evans, cousins and nieces and nephews on both sides of the family across the country and around the world.
Terri loved greatly, and in return was loved by many. She was a dedicated Christian, a devoted daughter, and a beloved wife, mother and Nana.
