Dear Mrs. Barbara,
Mike and I are so saddened at the passing of Mr. Tom, but we are rejoicing that he has gone on to his much awaited reward in Paradise! He was my "go to" person if ever I had a Bible question...as a matter of fact, in my Bible I have MANY notes of answers to questions that I have had through the years. There was NEVER a time that if I called (and his phone number is still in the back of my Bible) he would not pick up and be willing to help me if I ever got stumped in my study or needed scriptural guidance. He was a brilliant scholar of the Word and preached the Gospel as the Apostles Paul and Peter.
He will always hold a special place in our hearts and we will forever have his memory near and dear.
Our prayers are with you and the kids as you mourn such a great loss. We mourn with you. May God bless and keep you! We love you!

Alex,
You may not remember Hank and Linda Wagner. I was Tom's secretary at Preston Road. Your Dad was one of the best men I have ever met. We had the best times at the office when we were supposed to be working. Rubber band fights with Dan Burdan, changing book covers, him turning over is his old office chair. He could tell a joke and not crack a smile until he thought you took him serious. God gave him an abundance of knowledge, love and patience. I want you to know that he loved you more than life itself. You were the "light of his life" even in hard times. He talked about Alex and how proud of you he was the last time we saw them. You did an outstanding job of taking care of him and you know what, I feel certain Tom is telling those in heaven about his wonderful son, Alex Gaumer!!! Remember all the good times and they will take some of the pain away of not having him next to you. May the God who blessed you with Tom and Tom with you take care of your pain and your heart and bless you only with peace. One day at a time, Alex, one day at a time. And remember, he loves you until you see him again.

Alex, I loved Tom very much. And I learned so much from him in the years I worked with him at Preston Road . I've never known of any church of Christ minister that was his equal in biblical scholarship. He took his study and teaching of the Word seriously and most reverantly.

Please know how much I appreciate your care and dedication to your parents. They needed you and you stepped up to the call with love and devotion. Please give my love to your sweet mom. She always seemed happy and caring to everyone.

I know you will cherish memories and greatly miss Tom from now on. My prayers are that you and your family are blessed with strength and an ever growing faith that you will one day be with your dad again.
