Thomas R. O'Brien's Obituary
Age 76 of Dallas, passed away September 5, 2008. He was born November 21, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York, the eldest son of Irish immigrants, Martin Joseph and Mary Ellen McDonagh O’Brien. He graduated from St. Francis Xavier High School and later, St. John’s University in Jamaica, New York earning a degree in Economics. He served in the Army after college. He had opportunities to enter a variety of industries but was fascinated by the airline industry. He went on to work for American Airlines for 31 years retiring as an Assistant Vice President. He was an avid fan of the New York Football Giants and the St. John’s Redmen and later in life the New York Yankees. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Martin John O’Brien. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Leona, who lovingly cared for him his final years. Also surviving are his daughter Patty Deans and her husband Bryan, his son Chris, his daughter Kathy Barnwell and her husband Don, his son Doug O’Brien and his wife Cathy, and his daughter Lee Ostermayer and her husband Eric, his sister Mary Lyddon and her husband Charlie and his 9 wonderful grandchildren, Megan, Mallory, Hope and Holly Deans, Kristi and Greg Corboy, Will and Erin O’Brien and Hannah Ostermayer. Visitation with the family is scheduled for Monday, September 8 from 6:00 to 8:00PM at Restland on Greenville Avenue. Funeral Service will be held 11:00AM at All Saints Catholic Church, 5231 Meadowcreek Drive, Dallas 75248 on Tuesday, September 9. A graveside service will follow at Restland Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Families of SMA, PO Box 196 Libertyville, IL 60048- 0196 in memory of the deceased and in honor of Hannah Ostermayer.
