Dear Tina, So sorry to hear about your dad. Hope the memories you have built together give you comfort during these difficult times. RIP. Take care. Reeta Shah.
I am sampath nephew of my great THINGADAM MAMA. IN 1960S' WHEN I WAS STUDYING 4 th std at Ramakrishna school at Tnagar mama used to visit my mother whenever he visits india he would visit our house with out fail.. He is very much attached to my elder brother sridar andme. He was instrumental to see that all thriruvali sons & daughters got equal share when sripperumpudur old housen was sold some 11 years back.he donated his share to a charity or orphanage house in Nagpur and gave some money to his eldest brother papas' family who were struggling financially and he used to send money regularly and medecines to papa mama who was in old age home due to some domestic family problemws. As told by mamas' daughter Tina chary he was an embodiment of love affection social out look, benovelance and what not..THOGH HE WAS FAR AWAY HE USED TO CALL ME FREQUENTLY ANDENQURE ABOUT EACH AND EVERY MEMBER OF OUR FAMILY TILL RECENTLY. Uncles have a special role. Not being our father, they can be a friend and a supporter in a different way than anyone else in our lives. They are both a relative and a companion; one of the few people able to be both. Whether they are crazy and weird and only seen at holidays or our fishing buddy and mentor, the loss of an uncle is a particularly hard one. Their loss, however, is filled with the years of happy memories we had, and that special connection that belongs only to uncles. sampathkumar

TVT Chari better known to us as Thingadam Periappa ( Tamil for dad's older brother) is one uncle I have always been fond of. Though I have met him in countably few occasions, I treasure each moment. He came across to me as a person with kind-heart and a great senseof humor. He taught me benevolence. He said make sure you give a part if your earnings to some needy. This he said when he sent us a voice mail through Navin(Sanskrit for innovation) mail back in 2000. I follow it to-date to whichever extent possible. His generosity made me awestruck. He will have a special place in the heaven and the legacy he has left behind makes him immortal. Rest in peace perippa.
