Dear Susan When I received the call from Linda (at work) my heart absolutely broke !!! Don and I are so saddened by this, but know that Todd is in the presence of the Lord now. I know you are overwhelmed by all that you must do right now. PLEASE call me if you need to talk, need someone to go with you to make plans, need someone to cry with, anything !!!!!!!!!!!! Don and I have both gone down this road with our loved ones, and I can, or both of us can offer you our support and help. I left a voice mail on your cell phone, and I will try to call you at home today, Monday. Please let us know if and when there will be a funeral service or a church memorial service, we absolutely want to be there for you. You are in our prayers. We send all our love to you. The Bible gives the most satisfying answer to the question, "Why do men die, and what hope is there for the dead?" In this way Bible truth helps to lessen the sorrow and grief. It gives hope, and hope aids the mourner to keep from losing control of himself. Such Bible knowledge removes the apprehension one might feel from not knowing what has become of his loved one. Through the pages of the Bible the Creator enlightens one as to what hope there is for the dead to have life once again. First, why do people die? Read Romans 5:12 Second , What hope is there for the dead? John 5:28, 29 Observe that Jesus here said that "all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out" in obedience to him, the Judge who has life-giving power. This requires that there should be a resurrection of them all, that is, all the dead, good and bad, who are kept in mind to be raised. Finally, read Isa 25: 8,9 There is actually going to be a time when death will be swallowed up. Thus, while the death of someone you have loved may be the worst emotional experience of your life, it can be endured with the help of the bible. Also, keep busy in wholesome physical activities. Go to God in prayer. Study his Word, the Bible, to learn the reason why people die and the hope for the dead.
