Truda Merle Carson's Obituary
Truda Merle Carson was born August 4, 1928, in Little Elm, Texas and passed away April 8, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Callie Lambert; eight siblings; four husbands; two sons, Larry Allen Wilkerson and Howard Crandall Howington; and one great-great-granddaughter, Rachael Kramer. She is survived by one sister, Clara Bell Bartee of Denton, Texas; three daughters: Linda and Robbie Ottwell of Carrollton, Carol and Ronnie McWhorter of Grandview, Dana and Ken Webber of Temple; one son, Charles and Sherry Wilkerson of Point; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Just about everyone called her Granny. She not only raised six children but also took in several of her grandchildren through the years so they could finish school or just have a place to call home. Once she even took in a foreign exchange student so he could finish school. After retiring as a Training Supervisor from Taylor Publishing Company in Dallas, she was able to concentrate on the things she enjoyed, such as sewing, quilting, gardening, and canning. She not only sewed for her family, but also for others. She could observe a dress at a store, then create for herself a pattern and make a similar dress at home. She made quilts for her family and baby blankets for the babies. Her backyard garden enabled her to grow and can a multitude of vegetables. When visiting her house, she could put a meal together in short order. Apricot fried pies or something good seemed to always be in the corner cake plate. Her hands were never idle. Mom went to church when she was younger, but in her later years, she went when someone took her. Mom was concerned about Doomie’s salvation and requested someone share the plan of salvation with him. One evening while talking to both Mom and Doomie about salvation, Mom and Doomie prayed the sinner’s prayer and asked Jesus to be Lord of their lives. They were seeking God, and we believe they found Him. Service for Truda will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 10:00 AM in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park. Graveside service will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017, at 2 PM at the Lone Star Cemetery in Point, Texas, 75472. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Restland Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75243.
