Victor Williams' Obituary
Victor “Vic” Williams, age 93, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, April 20, 2018, surrounded by his family in Dallas, Texas. He was born in England in 1925 to Edward and Victoria Maude Williams and was the last living of six children: Edward, Cecil, Royston, Cyril, and Brenda Williams.Vic is survived by his loving wife, Sue Williams, married for 54 loving years; daughter, Frances Sawyers, and husband Gaylon Sawyers; son, Victor Williams and wife, Danielle Watson and his three loving grandchildren, Sarah, Paul, and Daniel Sawyers whom he deeply loved and adored.During World War II he first served in the Bristol Auxiliary Fire Service, putting out fires as the bombs were being dropped, then in 1943 enlisted in Her Majesty’s Royal Navy serving on the HMS Rosario in Burma, and both the African and Mediterranean campaigns as a signalman. After the war, he immigrated to Canada, becoming a citizen while working different jobs, until he got tired of the frigid cold weather. In the early 60’s, he moved to Houston, Texas where he worked as an elevator constructor and in 1963 met and married his wife, Sue. He and Sue continued attending First Presbyterian Church, while serving as a Deacon, Elder, long-time 3rd grade Sunday School teacher, Operation ID, and preaching once a month at the Star of Hope Mission for many years. In 1974, he finally gained his US Citizenship. In 1991, they both transitioned membership to the Christ Evangelical Presbyterian Church and became heavily involved in the Kairos Prison Ministries. He mentored many prisoners he met through the Kairos Ministry weekends, as he touched many of their lives and prayed for them. After he retired from Local 31, Esco Elevators, in the early 90’s, he also began volunteering at Texas Children’s Hospital, until their recent move to Dallas, Texas in 2017. They then began attending Trinity Bible Church with their daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren. Vic genuinely adored his family and his community. He especially loved children, and likewise, they responded so well to his acts of kindness. Vic loved to care for those who desperately needed love. He was notorious for writing 15 letters a week to his family in England, friends around the world, and prisoners. He was also an avid Houston Astros fan, watching every Astros game. Victor left such a valuable legacy on everyone he interacted with and never met a stranger. His body lays to rest at Restland Memorial Park. A special thank you to Caroline Wangare, Wendi Webster and her staff at Windsor Senior Living; and Aqua Umoren and his group at Holding Hands Hospice as they cared for dad in his final days.A memorial service will be held, Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 1:30 pm at Trinity Bible Church, 400 W.
