Vincent "Benny" Fong's Obituary
FONG, VINCENT “BENNY”, age 82 of Garland, Texas, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011, following a lengthy illness. Born November 22, 1928, in Lake Village, Arkansas, he was one of 10 children born to immigrant parents from China. He grew up during the Great Depression. He joined the Army in 1950 and served until 1951. Following the closing of the family’s Fong Grocery, he helped found and operate B&W Grocery in Lake Village. He is survived by brother, Wally Fong; sisters-in-law, Ellen Farrar Fong and Dorothy Fong; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. His parents, eight siblings and a nephew precede him in death. Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 9, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. at Restland Wildwood Chapel in Dallas, Texas, with Reverend Wally Butts officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 7502 North Garland Avenue, Garland, Texas 75044, or charities of choice.
