Virginia Huston's Obituary
Virginia R. Huston, 98, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 30, 2017 in Edinburg, TX.. Born July 14, 1919 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, she and her husband, Basil E. Huston, Jr. moved to Texas in 1959 and lived for many years in Richardson, TX. They were longtime members of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church where Virginia served many years as the Pastor’s secretary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil and her son, Joseph M. Huston (Blanca). She is survived by sons, Basil, III (Sandy) of McAllen, TX and Robert (Shirley) of Horseshoe Bay, TX, and her daughter Jane Huston Ray (Bill) of Round Rock, TX; grandchildren Heidi Evans of Corsicana, TX, Stacey Huston of Austin, Catherine Ray Reichardt (Ken) of Magnolia, TX, Courtney Jo Huston (Nick) of Atlanta, GA, Scott Huston (Amanda) of Kingsland, TX, David Ray (Jeff) of Cedar Park, TX, and Joshua Ray of Austin; and great grandchildren Jacey Lee Huston of Kingsland, TX, Michelle Evans of Corsicana, Michael Evans of Austin, and Samuel Evans of Corsicana. Virginia was a lifelong devout Catholic and regardless of station, always put others first. Until the end, she would greet everyone with a smile. There simply was not a mean-spirited bone in her body. She will be sorely missed by her family and many others, but we celebrate her long productive life with confidence that she has now joined her Lord. Virginia was an early member of the St Paul’s Women’s Guild, and was recognized as Woman of the Year in 1995. The family wishes to thank the management and staff of The Bridges at Edinburg Assisted Living Home for the wonderful care they provided for the last five years of her life. Special thanks are also due Linda Menchaca for her loving care. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 8, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm, with Rosary at 7:00, in the Memorial Chapel at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 9, at 10:00 at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Richardson, TX with interment to follow at Restland Memorial Park. Her seven grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a memorial gift to the Women’s Guild c/o St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Services are under the direction of Restland Funeral Home, Dallas, TX.
