Virginia Moore Todd's Obituary
Virginia Moore Todd passed away in Dallas, Texas on August 31, 2009. She was born in Dallas on September 20, 1915, to Ira Thomas Moore and Lillie Bassett Moore. She is survived by her son Warren Lamar Todd, III, a resident of Marbridge in Manchaca, Texas. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Warren Lamar “W.L.” Todd, Jr., her brother John F. Moore and her sister Martha Moore Boren. She is survived by her son Warren Lamar Todd, III, a resident of Marbridge in Manchaca, Texas. She is also survived by her nephews Thomas M. Moore and Ben C. Boren, by nieces Martha Boren Hook and Susie Moore Taylor, all of Dallas. She is survived, as well, by many nieces and nephews, great and great, great, who loved her dearly. Virginia was educated at The Hockaday School and Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Pi Beta Phi. She was a dedicated Christian, a lifelong member of Scofield Memorial Church and an avid student of the Bible. Virginia’s faith not only sustained her throughout her life by also gave her a servant’s heart to reach out to others with a generous and loving spirit. Virginia and W.L. were married in 1938. They enjoyed a wonderful life together until his death in 1998. Together they were devoted parents to their beloved son Warren who has benefited greatly from their love and steadfast dedication. Their interest in those with special needs went beyond their son to others with similar needs. As a couple, Virginia and W.L. especially enjoyed being with their many friends, often traveling together to destinations centered around W. L.’s love for the game of golf. Virginia was an accomplished homemaker, a caring and gracious hostess who brought joy to both friends and family by entertaining at home with warm hospitality. During her life, Virginia was an active member in a number of organizations including The Dallas Woman’s Club, the Craig Class, the Dallas Country Club, The Junior League of Dallas, and The Garden Club Committee. Along with a group of very special friends, she especially enjoyed her “Sewing Club” that met weekly for close to 65 years. As Virginia faced the end of her life, she was comforted by the knowledge that “when absent from the body, she would be present with her Lord.” The family wishes to thank Virginia’s caregivers, Virginia Cooks, Lila Kirkpatrick, and Donna Williams.
