W. T. Walker, Jr.'s Obituary
W. T. “Rusty” Walker Jr. was born on August 8, 1938 and passed away on March 12, 2011. He was preceded in death by his father Woodson T. Walker and brother, Larry Glenn Walker. Rusty was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a friend to many. He is survived by his wife Nelda, son Steve and wife Cindy of Houston, TX, daughter Jennifer of Arlington, TX, grandchildren Christa, Madelyn, and Adam of Houston, and mother Hazel Walker of Dallas, many cousins, and a host of friends. Rusty was a member of the Dallas Fire Department for 31 years, and retired in May 1990. His brave and selfless contributions to public safety with the Department are immeasurable. He is a charter member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Mesquite. Rusty was extremely active in all aspects of church life, and in particular spent much of his free time maintaining the church building. He was also always present to support friends and family in times of need. He had the ability to build or fix just about anything, and was always willing to help others with various projects. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 at Restland Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at St. Marks UMC on Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Marks UMC or the American Cancer Society.
