Wallace "Bryan" Thruston's Obituary
Wallace “Bryan” Thruston of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on December 29, 2022, at the age of 89 with his daughter Lisa by his side. Preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Ann Thruston, parents Arthur and Ruth Thruston and sister Elaine Hall. Bryan is survived by his daughter Lisa Thruston, aunt Dorothy Simmons, cousin Michael Simmons and wife Jane, nephews David Kemp and wife Mauricia, Kyle Crozier and wife Debbie, Collins Crozier and wife Joni, nieces Cindy Turner, Carol Pringle and husband Pat and many great and great great nieces and nephews and other extended family and friends.
Bryan was born in Nacogdoches, Texas on April 28, 1933. His family moved to the West Texas town of Loraine before finally settling into the Cockrell Hill area of Dallas, Texas. Bryan graduated from Sunset High School, then attended Arlington State College for 2 years where he was a proud member of the ROTC. He then attended the University of Texas at Austin where he received his bachelor's degree in architecture. Bryan was a member of the Tejas Club while attending the University of Texas at Austin.
In 1959 Bryan married the love of his life, Ann, at Lakewood United Methodist Church. In 1960 their daughter Lisa was born. During the 48 years that he and Ann lived at Oak Tree Village he enjoyed serving the community by holding various positions on the Homeowners Association board. Activities he enjoyed were walking his dog twice a day, working with his plants in the front and back courtyards of his house, and playing tennis twice a week.
He loved sports and he never missed a Longhorn or Dallas Cowboys football game or a Texas Ranger baseball game.
In 1967 he co-founded STB Architects and Planners. STB concentrated on 2 building types - multifamily and K-12 educational facilities. Bryan was the partner in charge of the educational work. With the closing of STB in 2018 Bryan retired at the age of 85.
Bryan will be in our hearts forever and remembered as a kind and gentle soul.

The family of Bryan would like to extend their sincere appreciation to healthcare workers Ed and Will and Linda in the main office of Abell Companions of McKinney, Texas for the kindness and care they gave Bryan the last months of his life.
A special thank you to our friend and neighbor Evan Aksen for her dedication in walking Bryan’s dog “Bevo” over the past year. Also, to Chrystal Snow-Martin for her friendship and her help with the details for Bryan‘s funeral.
Lisa would like to thank the doctors and nurses at Medical City Dallas for the excellent care they gave Bryan in his final hours.
