Wanda Jeane Wiggins' Obituary
Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, Wanda Jeane Hughes Wiggins, 91, gained her beautiful angel wings and went to the Lord on early September 19, 2021.
Born to Cleo and Audrey Lillian Hughes on November 3, 1929, in Garland, TX. After graduating from Garland High School and marrying her high school sweetheart, Louis Wiggins. Wanda worked at Resistol Hats and used her one-of-a-kind beauty to pursue a modeling career, graduating from Patricia Stevens Modeling School and working at the Dallas Merchandise Mart. Many young ladies in Garland attended her poise classes.
A devoted and supportive wife of more than 73 years, Wanda knew how to fiercely love her family. She loved spending time outside in her garden with her flowers or walking countless hours around North Park Mall. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were the pride and joy of her life. The legacy of Nannie Wanda’s kind spirit, contagious laughter, vivacious personality, and zest for life will live on through each of them.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Louis Wiggins; daughters, Debbie and Jim Van Zant and Regina Finley; grandchildren Kerry and Joy Van Zant, Emily and Lance Burroughs and Calvin and Anna Burns; great-grandchildren Sophia Grace Burroughs, Isabella Clark Burroughs, and coming soon Eleanor “Ellie” Jeane Van Zant.
Preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank Milton Hughes, sister Shirley Ann Williams, brother Charles E. Hughes and son-in-law Bob Finley.
A celebration of her beautiful life is scheduled for 2:00 pm with visitation beginning at 1:00 pm on September 23, 2021, at Wildwood Chapel, Restland Funeral Home in Dallas. Memorial contributions on her behalf can be made to the T. Boone Pickens Center for Hospice and Palliative Care, 12477 Merit Drive, Dallas, TX 75251. The family is beyond grateful for the loving care and compassion the staff provided in the last week of Wanda’s life.
