Warren Vance Baker Sr.'s Obituary
Heaven has received another angel in the passing of Warren Baker on October 1, 2022 into eternal joy and peace. Warren was born in Bremond, TX on April 25, 1926 to the parentage of Ella Baker and John Baker.
Warren was educated in the Bremond Independent School District. He graduated at Bremond High School and went on to graduate from Prairie View A&M College and obtained his Master’s Degree from North Texas State University. He taught math to middle and high school students for a few years before becoming an Assistant Principal and later a Principal in the Dallas ISD.
Warren was a faithful member for many years at Bethany Missionary Baptist Church and served as a Deacon. He also served on the Board of Finances and the Youth College Scholarship program under the leadership of Rev. Marke Toles and the current leadership of Rev. Albert K. Haynes, Sr.
He was united in holy matrimony to Helen Marie Prescott on January 2, 1953 in Fort Worth, Texas and they enjoyed 68 years of marriage before the passing of his dear wife. Their union blessed them with five children.
Warren was a compassionate and friendly man who enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He also spent a lot of time tutoring at Longfellow Middle School after he retired.
He loved going out on his boat and fishing on the creek. Warren also enjoyed playing Spades and dominoes with whomever thought they could beat him. He was a great storyteller and would keep you intrigued for hours with his humorous jokes.
His memory will go on and not be forgotten by those that knew him and those who will continue to cherish him: Children - Debra Sims, Warren Vance Baker II, Rhonda Laurence (Earl), Phyllis DeGray and Joan Brown (Kevin), Grandchildren - Tiffany Atkinson, Jeremy DeGray, Candace DeGray, Stephany Watts and Chelsea DeGray; his 13 Great grandchildren and five Great great grandchildren, Sister - Laura Bradley; Sister-in-laws: Roberta Jones; Dorothy DeBose; Mildred Scott: Brother-in-laws: Joe Willie Prescott Jr. and Herman Stokes; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Family that preceded him in death: Loving Wife, Helen Marie Baker; Father, John Baker and Mother, Ella Baker; Siblings, John Baker, Charlotte Grimsley, Birdie Baker, Burnett Baker, Billie Joe Chew, George Baker, Charlie Baker, and Son-in-law Harold Sims.
