Wayne Carleton Kempter's Obituary
KEMPTER, WAYNE CARLETON Born Nov. 5, 1932 in Dubuque, Iowa and passed away Oct. 8, 2011 in Richardson, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lyle and Hilda Kempter. Wayne is survived by his sister, Diane Fairey; two sons, Mark and Craig Kempter; two granddaughters, Mercedes Kempter and Michelle Anderson and his nephew, Todd Ruff. After graduating from Iowa State Univ, with a degree in mechanical engineering, Wayne served two years in the US Army and earned a degree in electrical engineering while stationed in Aberdeen Maryland. He moved to Dallas, Texas in 1957 with his wife and first of two sons for a career at Collins Radio. Wayne coached his sons many YMCA sports teams and for over a decade, continued to coach football for the Richardson Optimist Club and Pop Warner Football League. For many he was “Coach Kempter”, a teacher and a motivator, inspiring athletes to perform at their highest level and excel in their endeavors. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta, Social Fraternity, Gammi Pi Chapter, Pi Tau Sigma, National Honorary Mechanical Engineering Society. Service will be held on Oct. 14, 2011 at 3:00PM at Wildwood Chapel located at Restland Funeral Home, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75243. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Alzheimer’s Association.
