Willard Goolsby's Obituary
He was born February 11, 1914 in Cason, TX to Jessie and Lizzie Goolsby. Passed away at his home in Dallas, TX November 15, 2008. Willard grew up in Cason, TX and graduated high school in Dangerfield, TX, earning a scholarship to go to college. Several years after Willard’s marriage to Dorothy Senn and the birth of their only son, Jerry, they moved to Dallas, TX. Willard worked several jobs but most of his life he worked as a carpenter. He later became a homebuilder. He and his son Jerry owned Willard Goolsby Custom Homes, and worked together, having a life-long close relationship. They built 886 homes, in the Lake Highlands area of Dallas. That is the area where Willard spent most of his years in Dallas. Willard was also an owner and builder of Elmwood Nursing Center in Marlin, TX, along with his son. Willard loved to plant and work in his garden and share all his vegetables with his family and friends. He also enjoyed his hunting dogs and hunting dove and quail. Willard is survived by his son, Jerry Goolsby and wife Roberta of Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Debra Hancock and Dawn Goolsby, of Dallas, TX; many great-grandchildren and greatgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and brother, Everette Goolsby of Dallas, TX. Predeceased by parents Jessie and Lizzie Goolsby, ex-wife Dorothy Goolsby, wife Kathryn Goolsby, sisters Clemmie John, Myrtie Carmack, Frances Watkins, Leona Ferguson, Thelma Davis, Inez Hazel Counts, brothers Bill Goolsby, Morris Goolsby, and Bud Goolsby. Funeral Services will be held Thursday November 20, 2008 at Restland Memorial Chapel, Dallas, TX. Pallbearers will be Tommy Senn, Glenn Senn, John Teeter, Tom Clore, John Hancock, Charles Lowe, Dennis McLemore, and Eric Garcia. Visitation will be Wednesday November 19, 2008 at Restland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Restland Memorial Park. A special thank you to Jane Ezeh, Willard’s long time caretaker, for the many hours of care she gave him. Thank you to Oscar and Lupe Morgan for their willingness to always help.
