William Charles Buchanan's Obituary
William C. Buchanan, 85, of Colleyville passed away Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2010. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 27, in Restland Abbey Chapel in Dallas. Bill was born Feb. 20, 1925, in rural Collin County to Charles S. and Emma Buchanan, both deceased. He was married to Bobbie Buchanan for 59 years. Bobbie passed away in 2004. Bill retired from Mobil Oil in 1983 with 42 years of service. He retired as controller of Mobil’s Denver E&P Division after having worked for Mobil in Dallas, Oklahoma City and Denver. He served during World War II in the Air Forces European theater as pilot of a B-24 Liberator, flying 30 missions. Bill was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters. He was promoted to captain at age 19 and remained in the Air Force Reserve until 1985, retiring at the rank of lieutenant colonel. Survivors: Daughters, Marilyn Brink and Nancy Reiff; son-in-law, Wayne Brink; grandson, Danny Brink; sister, Betty Sewell; and his beloved parrot, Skipper.
