William Lee Connell Jr's Obituary
Died November 26, 2009 in Corpus Christi, Texas. He was born July 6, 1918 in Nolanville, Texas to William Lee Connell, Sr. and Mary Stella Warren Connell. He attended Kilgore Junior College and Texas Wesleyan University. He was employed for many years at the Frito Company, which later became Frito-Lay and then PepsiCo. He retired from the Dallas County Junior College District. He married Elizabeth Mary Irby, his childhood sweetheart, March 7, 1942 in Galveston, Texas while he was serving in the Army. They were married by Bill’s father, William Lee Connell, a Methodist minister. Bill served as a Master Sergeant during World War II in the New Guinea Campaign in the South Pacific. He is survived by his daughter Catherine Connell Stryker and her husband, Richard. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Amanda (and her husband, David Lindeman), Alan, and Julia Stryker. He is also survived by his nieces, grandnieces, nephews, grand nephews and cousins. There was a graveside service at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery on Monday, November 30, 2009 at 10:00 am.
