Bob and Ann Norment read of Bill's death in THE DALLAS MORNING NEWS and while we have never sent a message in this way, we decided that since we do not have a Dallas address, we would tell his family of our memories of the Holden family. We attended Elizabeth and Jim Thompson's wedding. We probably saw Bill and Doris there. Elizabeth, Jim, Scott, and Clair were our neighbors on 22nd St SE for a few years, and Elizabeth and I became close friends and were co-hosts for lady luncheons. Our sons, Russell and Sims, and their father, Bob, camped with Scott, Jim, and the Holden men. Ann often says that we who grow old miss our late friends, and she still misses Elizabeth but remembers good times together. She and Ann once made personalized decoupage invitations for a luncheon. Elizabeth was talented in many ways as was her family. Yes, indeed, we have been blessed to have been friends with the Holdens. Clair remembers us. She came to Paris a few years ago for an historical marker dedication, and we enjoyed a brief visit at that time. To Bill's sons, may you three continue to honor your dad with good work in the company that he lead for many years. And may the family remember that all were blessed to have a man of honor in their family tree.
The Dekes are a true "Band of Brothers" who met at SMU and formed a bond and friendship that would last for over 70 years. Our numbers are shrinking but our bond and our friendship is still strong, we just have to show it in different ways. Due to the restrictions that advancing life has placed on us, few if any of us are able to be present with the family at Bill's services. But I can assure you that the thoughts and prayers of his brothers and (the surviving wives) are with his families and friends. We will miss him but cherish the many memories we have.

Paul, Neal, Tom and all the family - condolences for your loss. Mr. Holden was a good man that cared for his employees and family. I worked with FCS during tough economic times and he was fair and caring for us all. I trust this celebration of life will be added to your memories of your Pop. God Bless you all.

Neal: very sorry to hear of your dad's passing. My own dad passed at the same age. I know you have a lot of great memories..
