William Boyd Manning's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of William “Boyd” Manning announce his passing at the age of 87, after a life well lived, on September 21, 2019. Preceding him in death were his Mother Margaret Manning, father Rex Manning and first wife, Charlotte Harper Manning. He leaves behind his wife of 5 years Carrine Rene McEntire Webb Manning, and stepson Michael Tandy Webb of Campbell and his wife Ariel, and two daughters, Sheri Manning Kempe of Plano and Lauri Manning Jasper of Cypress, and her husband Robin, Boyd was a Grandfather to five and a Great Grandfather to seven, Rachel Jasper Heller of Houston, her husband Chase and two daughters Camryn & Hayley, Meg Jasper Mattison of Kalamazoo, her husband Kevin and their 3 children Jake, Reid and Sadie, Andrew Kempe of Plano and his wife Kelly, Rebecca Jasper McCaw of Cypress, her husband Cody and 2 daughters Maddie and Charlotte, and Travis Kempe of Frisco.Boyd was born on March 29, 1932 at home in McKinney, TX. He lived in the DFW area most of his life and graduated from Crozier Tech high school in 1952. He then, enlisted in the Navy where he spent several years in Guantanamo Bay, long before it was called Gitmo. After graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1961 with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, he and Charlotte returned to Dallas to raise a family. Boyd loved fishing, shooting, working on boats and playing solitaire games on the computer. He had a gift for making whatever was needed from items around the house, and always had a project he was working on. He taught his daughters how to drive, shoot & sew and created many Halloween costumes for his grandsons when they were growing up. His extensive knowledge of antique guns made him extremely popular with gun collectors who would come to him with questions regularly. After his wife, Charlotte passed away in 1986, Boyd moved to the Cedar Creek Lake area to take care of his mother Margaret Manning and aunt Sarah Thompson, for many years until their deaths. He was always taking care of someone and never complained about the added burden. Because he was such a good listener, he gave very good advice, and many came to him to discuss trials, tribulations or joys while fishing with him in his backyard, on Cedar Creek Lake. It was a source of great pride that 4 of his grandchildren graduated from College (even if some went to Texas A&M), and that he could assist them with that accomplishment. In 2011 he renewed his acquaintance with Rene McEntire Webb and they married on Jun 13, 2015. Together they moved to Tool, TX and created a sanctuary for a multitude of animals who entertained them nightly. Several of the squirrels and racoons were so bold as to ring a bell to let them know them know they were there and ready for their nightly treats. Many of them were given names and were a source of much joy to them both.Boyd will be dearly missed by all his friends and acquaintances. Everyone is invited to attend a memorial gathering for him at McClain’s where he ate every day for years on Tuesday, September 24, at 1:30pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to Caring Hearts Hospice in Gun Barrell City.
