William (Bill) Smith's Obituary
Bill was born in Munday, Texas August 19th, 1926. He went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 8th, 2018 in Dallas, Texas. We will always remember him as a man of God who earned the love and respect of his family. He married Mary Lou Barnes on February 12th, 1977 in Dallas. Bill was proud of his military service. He served in the Navy during World War II and was stationed in the South Pacific. He worked as a loan officer for the City of Dallas Credit Union for twenty-six years. He was a member of Wilshire Baptist Church for forty-eight years. Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Lou Smith of Dallas. His daughter-in-law Terri Smith and his grandson Rusty Smith of Amarillo, Texas. His sons Charlie Barnes of Dallas, Richard Barnes and wife Brenda of Richardson, and Weldon Willingham of Slidell, LA. Sister-in-laws Alyne Yates of Dallas and Patsy Yates of Cumby. And his five grandchildren: Adrian Barnes Pierce, Cori Branton, Angi Young, Rusty Smith, and Adam Barnes along with fifteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Gary W. Smith of Amarillo. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, January 14th at in The Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home preceded by visitation at 2:00 pm. The burial will be at the DFW National Cemetery on Monday, January 15th at 11:00 am.
