William Clarence Stearman Jr.'s Obituary
Age 92, of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully on 3/4/2012 at Dallas, Texas. He was born on 1/6/1920 in Dallas, Texas to his parents, William and Malta. William was the oldest of 3 children. He married Dorothy Lillard in Dallas, Texas on 09/ 03/1948. They had 2 children, William & Lucy. He attendend Texas A&M and graduated in 1942 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He served in the Army during World War II, in the European theater with the 86th Engineers. Following the war he served in the Army Reserves for an additional 12 years attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After World War II, he joined his father working in his grandfather’s company, Stearman and Sons, General Contractor. William was a member of University Park United Methodist Church and a long time resident of Dallas County. He was a long time supporter of Scott and White, in Temple, Texas and the Texas A&M Health Science Center. He was an avid golfer and played in numerous tournaments, including the World Seniors, Mexican Seniors, and Left Handers. William will be remembered by his loving wife, Dorothy and their son, William Stearman III and his partner, Angela Best. He is also survived by his grandson, Kurt Tyler, numerous nieces, nephews and devoted caregiver, Maria Torres. He was preceded in death by daughter, Lucy Tyler, parents, William and Malta, sister, Robin Oefinger, brother Herman L. Stearman, sister-in-law, Zenida Hengy, sister-in-law Jane Yoder. Relatives and friends are invited to a funeral service for William at 12:30 on Saturday, 03/10 at Wildwood Chapel at Restland Memorial Park and Funeral Home. Internment will follow at Restland Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 9220 Restland Road. Donations may be made to the charity of your choice. The family would like to express its sincere gratitude to the caring staff of the Plaza at Edgemere for their great care of William and tremendous support to his family.
